Our ethos is good for you and for our planet too. When I decided to start up Nipper&Co it was very important to make products that would make my kids proud. In first place that definitely meant going organic.
So why is organic so important. These are just some of the very important reasons:
When you choose organic products, you choose products that promote a better world and work for the benefit of our wonderful planet.
Organic means higher levels of animal welfare. Did you know that an organic farm has up to 50% more wildlife! These farms are pure bliss for wildlife and provide safe homes for bees, birds and butterflies. How nice is that.
Organic farming also means lower levels of pesticides and more environmentally sustainable management of the land and natural environment – again this means more wildlife!
Organic as a system of farming reduces greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture, protects natural resources like fresh water and healthy soils more than any other system of agricultural cultivation.
British Journal of Nutrition found significant differences between organic and non-organic farming.
Now if that’s not enough drop me an email, I would love to share more info on benefits of organic.
Organic is not where the story of our ethos ends. Ethical trade was very important for us so teaming up with people who have the same values was crucial. Today we can proudly say all of our teas have been ethically sourced and although we are still far from perfect we strive to use as much as biodegradable and recyclable materials as we can and push our suppliers and partners to find more eco friendly solution when those are still not available.
Our tea pyramids are GMO free but unfortunately are still not biodegradable as we can’t have Soil Association accreditation with currently available biodegradable tea pyramids (apparently there are no producers that can guarantee corn starch that is used to make the pyramids that is also completely GMO free). This is a big ‘thorn’ in my soul and would love to hear your thoughts on it.
In the meantime we are pushing our suppliers to find a solution that will be both GMO free and biodegradable and as soon as we do we will be sure to brag about it!
